The science of neurobics, which coordinates both mental and physical activities is a method of exercising the brain along with the body.  Ballroom line dancing is an excellent example of this technology as you are required to remember step sequences while using them to the tempo of ballroom music.  The New England Journal of Medicine study actually shows that learning ballroom dance sequences can delay mental erosion and actually help in the prevention of dementia.
